Woman receives life-threatening injuries in collision, man charged with impaired driving

TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON - On Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017 at approximately 4:30 a.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a single vehicle collision.

Initial reports indicated that a sedan lost control, crashed and that a passenger was seriously injured on Sideroad 9, Belwood.

OPP, Centre Wellington Fire and Rescue and Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Service responded.

A 23-year-old female passenger was rushed to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver, 30-year-old Jeffrey C. A. McDougall of Arthur has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle - cause bodily harm and with driving with over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100ml of blood - cause bodily harm contrary to the Criminal Code.

A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on Jan. 5, 2018.
