Staff at a west end business foiled the theft of more than $250 worth of product Wednesday afternoon.

Police were called approximately 3 p.m. to a store near the intersection of Paisley Road and Elmira Road South. Staff watched a man fill a shopping cart and walk out making no attempt to pay. He was confronted outside and advised he was under arrest for theft, but got on a bicycle and fled the area.

He was described as a white male, late 30s, slim build with pale skin. He was wearing a black Nike jacket, black baseball cap, dark jeans with holes and a backpack.
