County ratifies CUPE agreement with social services staff

GUELPH/WELLINGTON – The County of Wellington has ratified a collective agreement with its social services department. 

After a closed session at a Monday meeting, the county reported it had ratified the renewal of the collective agreement between CUPE Local 973 and the County of Wellington. 

The ratification is for a one year collective agreement retroactive to Jan. 1 to Dec. 31 which includes a 3.95 per cent economic adjustment, enhancements to vacations and benefits as well as “significant wording changes.” 

CUPE Local 973 represents about 160 full-time employees working in the social services department which includes divisions such as Ontario Works, housing services and children’s early years.
