County, townships lower flags to honour Indigenous children buried at former BC residential school

The municipalities joins others across the nation honouring the lives lost

The County of Wellington, Centre Wellington and Wellington North are joining communities across Canada in lowering their flags to half-mast in recognition of the recently discovered mass grave in British Columbia.

Last week, more than 215 children's remains were found in a mass grave at a former residential school site in Kamloops,B.C.

On Sunday, the federal and provincial governments announced all flags would be flown at half-mast to honour the lives of the children discovered. 

Just after 10 a.m. Monday morning, the Township of Centre Wellington and County of Wellington tweeted they had done the same.

Andy Lennox, Wellington North mayor, indicated on twitter the township would be lowering flags to half mast.
