PALMERSTON – More employment opportunities are coming to Minto in the form of a business plaza.

Approved during a council meeting Tuesday evening, Guelph-and-Wellington-based company J&P Brothers plans to build a 26,000 sq. ft. industrial plaza in the Palmerston Industrial Park.

A one-acre property located at 340 Minto Rd., the Palmerston Industrial Park was purchased by the town last May.

According to the report, the first phase of the project would see a 7,000 sq. ft building constructed with seven units and an additional 19,000 sq. ft would be added to the property over time.

"This is a really good news story," said Mayor Dave Turton, calling for additional support from upper levels of government during the meeting. "(But) it just generates the fact that we need housing in the town if there's going to be more employees coming."
