GuelphToday surprises Janet Mosney with a Random Act of Kindness

As a caregiver, Janet is known for going above and beyond to bring out a smile.

Throughout the pandemic, she quickly noticed a trend of isolation and loneliness among her senior clients.

Going above the call of duty, Janet used her artistic and culinary skills to create goody bags filled with homemade treats. She would decorate each bag with bright colours and designs, adding some fun to the visit.

“Checking in once a week, having a quick conversation, making cookies, it really is that easy to make someone happy,” said Janet.

Even after changing professions, Janet continues to visit her clients and brighten their day with kind gestures.

“I still visit a few clients I grew friendships with and visit with them weekly,” Janet told the GuelphToday team.

“Whatever Janet is involved with, she always goes above and beyond”,  said Janet's friend, Lianne Barber. “She goes the extra mile with acts of kindness just to brighten someone's day.”

To celebrate Janet’s kindness, GuelphToday surprised her on her birthday with gifts from her favourite local shops.

“Thank you for the nomination, I appreciate the acknowledgement,” said Janet.

Thank you to our generous sponsors, Diwa Classic Indian Cuisine, Robinson's Flowers, The Flour Barrel and The Olive Experience for making this Random Act of Kindness possible.

Our nomination form is always open to nominate someone in the community who selflessly gives of themselves despite challenges or hardships, is positive in the face of adversity, or is just plain extraordinary and deserves a special surprise.
