Hot Summer Nights returns tonight, but there’s no need to bring a bathing suit.

The city announced today that due to outdoor water use restrictions, they will not be using fire hoses at the annual event in an effort to conserve water.

The popular Guelph Fire Department event typically involves first responders teaching kids about fire safety while hosing them down to cool off.

But the city moved their outdoor water use program to Level 2 Red, meaning that outdoor water use is restricted until otherwise noted.

The event will continue, though, and first responders will still be there to teach kids about fire and emergency safety.

The same thing happened in 2016 due to water restrictions.

Hot Summer Nights kicks off tonight at Margaret Green Park from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.

The schedule for the remainder of events is as follows:

  • Grange Road Park, July 21
  • Exhibition Park, July 28
  • Orin Reid Park, August 4
  • Waverley Park, August 11
  • Oak Street, August 18
  • Riverside Park, August 25
