ST. LOUIS — Jordan Kyrou got the tiebreaking goal midway through the third period, Justin Faulk scored twice and the St. Louis Blues rallied to beat the San Jose Sharks 5-4 Monday night.

NASHVILLE — Andrei Svechnikov, Sebastian Aho and Vincent Trocheck each had a goal and an assist as the Carolina Hurricanes beat the Nashville Predators 4-2 Monday night. Nino Niederreiter also scored and James Reimer made 31 saves for Carolina.

PHILADELPHIA — Making a surprise start in net, Carter Hutton was backed by the scoring burst Buffalo needed to get in the win column.

UNIONDALE, N.Y. — Semyon Varlamov stopped 27 shots for his 29th career shutout, Jean-Gabriel Pageau scored with 4:09 remaining, and the New York Islanders beat the Boston Bruins 1-0 in their home opener Monday.

DETROIT — Alexandre Texier and Pierre-Luc Dubois scored 1:16 apart early in the third period to give the Columbus Blue Jackets a two-goal lead and they held on to beat the Detroit Red Wings 3-2 on Monday.

TORONTO — Winnipeg Jets coach Paul Maurice says star forward Patrik Laine is day-to-day with an upper body injury. Maurice updated Laine's status before Winnipeg's game in Toronto on Monday. Laine had left the last two Jets practices early.

TORONTO — The Toronto Maple Leafs have lost goaltender Aaron Dell to the waiver wire. The New Jersey Devils claimed Dell a day after the Maple Leafs put the goaltender on waivers, along with veteran forward Jason Spezza.
