Bring Them Home

The Guelph Police Service continue to take a proactive role in addressing Human Trafficking within our City and recently conducted a one night operation called “Bring Them Home”.

It focused on identifying vulnerable persons involved in the sex trade and took place during the week of Jan. 23, 2017.

This operation was conducted by an experienced team of officers from two separate Guelph Police work units, including members from the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit and Neighborhood Services Patrol with the assistance of Victim Services Wellington.

Four females between the ages of 16-38 years were identified working in the sex trade. These females were provided with contact information and links to community resources and outreach programs that provide support and products to assist them in their day to day lives.

Among the females spoken to, a 16-year-old victim was identified.  As a result, one adult and one young person were arrested and charged with material benefit from sexual services provided by person under 18 years, advertising sexual services, and possession of a controlled Substance.  All of the involved persons in this case were not from Guelph.

The Guelph Police Service asks that if you or anyone you know is believed to be involved in the sex trade and needs assistance, to please call the Guelph Police Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit at 519-824-1212.

This project was made possible by a grant from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.
