20-year Wellington County OPP member faces obstruction, breach of trust charges

WELLINGTON COUNTY, ON - As a result of an ongoing internal investigation, members with the OPP Office of Professionalism, Respect, Inclusion and Leadership (previously known as Professional Standards Bureau) arrested an officer on Dec. 28, 2020.

Sergeant Jamie Gillespie, a 20-year member, currently serving at the Wellington County OPP Detachment has been charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada (CCC) offences

  • Attempt to intercept private communication as per section 184(1);
  • Obstruct justice as per section 139(2);
  • Breach of trust as per section 122;
  • Counselling offence that is not committed - indictable offence as per section 464 (a); and with
  • Obstruct peace officer as per section 129(a).

The officer is currently suspended and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on Jan. 29, 2021.
