80-year-old with Alzheimer's defrauded of more than $25,000

Police say the accused charged the woman numerous times for roof repairs that were never completed

TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON - On Oct. 7, 2019, Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a reported fraud at a residence on Sideroad 6 North, Centre Wellington. It was reported that an 80-year-old woman with Alzheimer's was defrauded over $25,000.

Investigation revealed that a known suspect had on numerous occasions charged the woman for roofing repairs that were never completed.

As a result, Alexander Williamson, 25 years old of Guelph/Eramosa Township, has been charged with fraud over $5,000 and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of Justice - Guelph on March 20, 2020.
