911 call leads to impaired charges

Following the traffic stop, the driver was taken to the local OPP Operation Center for further testing before being charged

TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH - On Dec. 4, 2019 at approximately 4:55 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a 911 call involving a possible impaired driver that was operating a black pickup truck on Main Street in Drayton.

Police located the pickup and conducted a traffic stop. Police spoke with the driver and determined that their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and placed them under arrest. The driver was transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing.

Darold Frances Gregory, 43-years-old of Wellington North Township has been charged with Impaired Operation and Impaired Operation - 80 Plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code.

A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused will appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph on Jan. 7, 2020 to speak to the charges.
