Alarm foils break-in at local high school

Two portables were entered and several laptops gathered before the suspect fled the scene

Guelph police say they are are investigating after a break-in at a local high school was interrupted early Sunday.

Shortly before 5 a.m. police received a call from a school board employee, who responded to an alarm activation at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic high school on Westmount Road and observed a male leaving a portable and fleeing the area.

Investigation revealed two portables had been entered and several laptops were gathered together, though they were left behind when the suspect fled. The male also left behind a bicycle and backpack.

The incident remains under investigation.
