Arrest made after financial institution calls police

Suspect is also wanted on other fraud-related offences in another jurisdiction

A Toronto man wanted on several fraud-related offences was arrested in Guelph Thursday.

Thursday around 2:30 p.m., Guelph police were contacted by a financial institution in the south end and told there was a male attempting a fraudulent transaction.

Police responded, however, the man fled prior to police arrival. A search of the area ensued, and the man  was arrested at approximately 2:45 p.m. The man was identified and found to be wanted in Guelph for fraud related offences and another jurisdiction in southwestern Ontario for fraud.

The 69-year-old is facing 10 fraud-related criminal charges, including: fraud under $5,000, possession of identity documents, identity fraud and possession of property obtained by crime.

He was given a Sept. 22 court date and released to another police service.
