A Guelph man faces charges after a motorcyclist took off on officers more than a month ago.

Approximately 12:20 a.m. on July 2, officers observed a motorcycle leaving an address on Woolwich Street. The driver was heading southbound, but upon seeing a police cruiser  made a U-turn and accelerated away northbound. Officers observed the motorcycle did not have any licence plates and activated their emergency lights, however the motorcyclist sped through a plaza to get away and was not pursued in the interests of public safety.

The motorcyclist was subsequently identified and on Friday evening was located in the area of Woolwich Street and Speedvale Avenue and arrested. A 34-year-old Guelph man is charged with dangerous driving, flight from police and operation while prohibited.
