A Guelph man, 51, faces a pair of weapons charges following a March incident that reportedly saw a man get hit in the back of the head with an empty beer bottle, then punched in the forehead.
A suspect was taken into custody on Thursday evening in the downtown core, say police.
Shortly before 2 a.m. on March 26, two men were leaving a business near the intersection of Speedvale Avenue West and Silvercreek Parkway North when the attack occurred, a police news release explains.
After being struck in the back of the head with a bottle, the victim reportedly turned around and was punched in the forehead before two other men intervened to break up the melee.
The accused is charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and assault with a weapon.
