A Guelph man has been arrested after a woman was reportedly sexually assaulted while waiting for a bus earlier this month, Guelph police say.

On April 10, approximately 8:10 a.m., a woman was waiting inside a bus stop shelter on Paisley Road near Candlewood Drive. A man unknown to her sat down beside her and tried to engage her in conversation before sexually assaulting her.

The woman was able to push past him and flee the area. She was not physically injured.

A 49-year-old man was arrested Wednesday and is charged with sexual assault. He was held for a bail hearing and has been released with conditions to appear in a Guelph court May 5.
