Arrest made in vehicle break-in investigation

On April 17, 2020 at 3:43 a.m., [it is alleged that] an adult male tried the door handles for all three vehicles parked in the driveway of a residence located near the intersection of Victoria Road North and Eramosa Road in the City of Guelph. He entered one vehicle through an unlocked driver side door, rummaged through the middle console and glove box, but did not take anything.

At 3:46 a.m., the male left the area in a 2014 Ford van stolen from a nearby residence.

At 9:23 a.m., police located the van parked near the intersection of Victoria Road North and Eastview Road.

On April 27, at 7:15 p.m., police located the male near the intersection of Eramosa Road and Woolwich Street. He was subsequently arrested.

A 24-year-old Guelph male has been charged with:
    •    Attempt theft under $5,000
    •    Trespass by night
    •    Possession of stolen property over $5,000
    •    Occupant of motor vehicle without consent
    •    Breach probation

He will appear in court on Aug. 8.
