Arthur driver charged with impaired by drug

TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH – On Sept. 16, 2020, at approximately 7:40 a.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on Domville Street in the Town of Arthur.   

It was reported that a pick-up truck left the road and ended up on the front lawn of a residence.  

Police spoke with the driver and determined that their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by drug and they were place under arrest. The driver was transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing.  

Andrew Jared Hummel, 35-years-old of Arthur has been charged with Impaired Operation by Drug contrary to the Criminal Code and Driving Without Insurance contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act. A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph on Oct. 20, 2020.  

If you suspect someone is driving while their ability to operate a motor vehicle is impaired, either by drug or alcohol, call police at 911 to report it.
