On Jan. 25, 2018, Guelph police were called to a Dufferin Street address, where it is alleged a resident caught a male attempting to break into the house. Police were able to locate and arrest the suspect in this incident. As a result of the investigation, a 38-year-old male is charged with the following: attempt break and enter, possession of break-in tools, possession of a prohibited weapon (knife), two counts of possession of a controlled substance, breaching a court order and breaching an Officer in Charge Undertaking. He was held for a bail hearing.
