Guelph police are investigating after a car was stolen early Thursday and later fled from police.

A Guelph man called approximately 2:20 a.m. to report his 2006 black Dodge Charger had been stolen while he was working out at a south end gym. Someone had broken into the male’s locker and stolen his car keys, say police.

Approximately 20 minutes later officers observed the Charger driving in the area of Edinburgh Road South and Stone Road West. It was being closely followed by a white Ford Edge SUV which had been reported stolen from another jurisdiction.

The driver of the Charger was described as a black male with lighter complexion, curly hair and a white zip-up tennis jacket. An officer attempted to stop the vehicles, which sped away westbound on Stone Road. A pursuit was not initiated.
