Guelph police are investigating after a motor vehicle was stolen from outside a south end residence early Thursday.

Police were called to a townhouse unit on Janefield Avenue about 4:30 a.m. A male reported he left his home about 1 a.m. and his white Hyundai Elantra was parked in front of the house. When he came home three hours later it was gone. The male told police he misplaced the keys to the vehicle a few days earlier.

Video surveillance showed two people approaching and getting into the vehicle just after 2 a.m. The vehicle was driven over a curb and along a walking path and was last seen leaving the parking lot toward College Avenue.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Const. Michael Nixon at 519-824-1212, ext. 7028, email him at [email protected], leave an anonymous tip for Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or leave an anonymous message online at www.csgw.tips.
