A Guelph male faces several charges after Guelph police report he was caught on video Wednesday trying to break into a downtown apartment unit.

Police were called to a downtown apartment building about noon Wednesday, after a male was seen on video using a pry bar to try to get into a unit. Police located the male on scene and seized the pry bar.

Investigation revealed the male had been verbally trespassed from the building. A search incident to arrest uncovered small amounts of suspected fentanyl and crystal methamphetamine as well as a female’s health card.

A 32-year-old Guelph male is charged with attempt break and enter, possessing break and enter instruments, enter premise when prohibited, two counts of possessing controlled substances, possessing identity documents and three counts of breaching probation. He was held for a bail hearing Thursday.
