Charge laid after BB gun reportedly fired at maintenance worker

A Guelph man faces weapons charges after a BB gun was reportedly discharged towards a maintenance worker at a south end apartment building Friday morning.

Police were called shortly before 9 a.m. to an address in the area of College Avenue West and Scottsdale Drive. A maintenance worker had attended a unit for the purposes of replacing windows as previously arranged. When he opened the door to the unit he was confronted by a male holding a BB rifle. The man swore at him and discharged the rifle towards the worker but missed him.

A 55-year-old Guelph man is charged with pointing a firearm, assault with a weapon and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He will appear in a Guelph court April 12.
