Charge laid in serious collision

TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON - On May 19, 2017 at approximately 5:10 p.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Guelph-Wellington Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Centre Wellington Fire and Rescue responded to a two-vehicle collision involving a pickup truck and minivan on Sideroad 15 and Second Line, West Garafraxa.

The pickup truck was southbound on Second Line and the van was eastbound on Sideroad 15 when the collision occurred.

The male driver of the van was transported by air ambulance to Hamilton with serious injuries. A female passenger and three-year-old child in the van were transported by Guelph-Wellington EMS to a local hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the pick-up truck was not injured.

As a result of the investigation the driver of the pickup truck, 22-year-old Nicholas McKay of Georgetown has been charged with disobey stop sign - fail to stop.
