A Guelph man faces impaired driving charges and had his company vehicle impounded for a week Monday evening.
Just before 6 p.m., the Guelph police received a report of a vehicle being driven erratically in the area of Stevenson and Elizabeth streets. The vehicle was located on Victoria Road South and was observed by officers to still be driving erratically, swerving within and outside its lane.
The vehicle was stopped and officers could detect an odour of alcoholic beverage on the driver’s breath and noted signs of impairment. The driver was arrested and transported to the police station, where testing confirmed he had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
A 29-year-old Guelph man is charged with impaired driving. His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle, registered to a Mississauga company, was impounded for 14 days.
