On Nov. 5, 2018 just before midnight, Guelph Police stopped a vehicle in the area of Gordon Street and Lowes Road. Police spoke with the male driver, and while speaking with him, could detect a strong odour of marijuana.

After speaking with the driver, the male was arrested and charged for impaired driving, as well as having marijuana in a vehicle readily accessible. Syed Moazzam, a 28-year-old Waterloo male is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 14, 2018.

Guelph Police would like to remind the public if you decide to consume marijuana, it’s best to treat it just like alcohol and make alternative driving arrangements. With an impaired by drug charge comes a vehicle impoundment, a 90-day driver’s licence suspension, and a lot of money for lawyer and insurance fees.
