A Guelph male faces charges after he was linked by DNA to a stolen motor vehicle recovered last summer.

On July 19, 2020, the Guelph police attended an address in the area of Eramosa Road and Meyer Drive where they located the vehicle stolen two days earlier from a residence in the city’s south end.

During a forensic examination of the vehicle, police located several items which did not belong to the owner. DNA was collected from some of the items and sent to the Centre of Forensic Science, which eventually matched them to someone in the national DNA data bank.

A 21-year-old Guelph male was located downtown Monday morning and is charged with possessing stolen property over $5,000 and breaching probation. He will appear in a Guelph court September 3.
