Cutting off another car while police were watching led to drug charges for a Guelph man Thursday, report Guelph police
Just after noon, police were on routine patrol on Victoria Road North when a vehicle sped past them. Officers began to follow the vehicle and observed the driver make an abrupt lane change which caused another motorist to brake quickly to avoid a collision.
A traffic stop was conducted and officers immediately smelled cannabis, which was located within reach of the driver. Officers requested the man exit the vehicle so it could be searched under the Cannabis Control Act and noticed he allegedly appeared to be trying to hide something by placing it down his pants.
A search revealed approximately $2,800 worth of suspected cocaine, a small amount of cannabis, two envelopes full of cash, digital scales and what appeared to be a debt list, say police.
A 33-year-old Guelph man is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and driving a motor vehicle with cannabis readily available. He will appear in a Guelph court July 12.
