A popular Guelph police officer is back up for a provincial policing award.
Const. Mark O’Connell has been nominated for a Police Services Hero of the Year award.
“With over 21 years with the Guelph Police, Cst. Mark O’Connell, a Guelph Police Association member, goes above and beyond to help the homeless in Downtown Guelph,” the Police Association of Ontario wrote on X. “His daily presence positively impacts his community.”
O’Connell recently returned to a full-time role as a downtown police officer.
The awards committee will compile nominations in April, before selecting finalists.
The awards will be announced at the Police Association of Ontario’s annual meeting in May.
