A Pickering male who became irate he could not use a $100 bill to pay for a coffee Tuesday morning ended up being charged with impaired driving, report Guelph police.

Shortly before 6 a.m. police were called to a business on Stone Road West near Edinburgh Road South. A male in the drive-through became very upset when staff could not accept his payment and began driving erratically in the parking lot.

When police arrived a short time later the male was out of his vehicle and was harassing another motorist in the drive-through. The male was showing very excited behaviour, speaking quickly and unable to comprehend basic instructions.

Officers noted a partial bottle of rubbing alcohol in the cup holder of the male’s motor vehicle. Police say the male advised them he was considering drinking it and offered the officers some.

A 44-year-old Pickering male is charged with impaired operation by a drug. He will appear in a Guelph court April 20.
