Driver charged four days after fleeing scene where pedestrian was injured

Brantford driver initially denied any involvement in the incident, but when later contacted by police he turned himself in

A Brantford man was arrested Monday, four days after a pedestrian was struck in Guelph by a van which fled the area, report Guelph police.

Approximately 7:20 a.m. Thursday, police were called to Woodlawn Road West and Imperial Road North where a 60-year-old male had been struck in the crosswalk. He was transported to hospital to be treated for a broken leg.

The involved vehicle left the area. Officers located a vehicle nearby matching the description, however the driver denied being involved in a collision. Following ongoing investigation the driver was contacted and on Monday morning turned himself in.

A 66-year-old man is charged with dangerous driving causing bodily harm and failing to stop at a collision involving bodily harm. He will appear in a Guelph court October 17.
