Driver charged with impaired after vehicle hits fire hydrant, drags it down the street

19-year-old has a January 14 court date

On the 29th of December, 2019 at approximately 1:49 a.m., police were notified of a single motor vehicle collision in the area of Gordon Street and Dean Avenue. Officers arrived on scene and observed one vehicle with front end damage. The vehicle had struck a fire hydrant on the west side of the street and dragged it approximately 150 metres, where it came to a stop on the east side of the street.

The driver, a 19-year-old female of Drayton, was arrested for operation while impaired. Airbags were deployed due to the collision, therefore the female was taken to the hospital. She was eventually cleared by medical staff without injury.

She was released on an Appearance Notice, with a court date of Jan. 14, 2020.
