PUSLINCH - On May 12, 2018 at approximately 9:40 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere check on Gore Road, Township of Puslinch. A male operating a four-door sedan entered the RIDE check.

While speaking with the driver, officers detected an odour of marijuana in the interior of the vehicle. The driver was arrested and identified himself with an Ontario Driver's Licence. The driver then became agitated with police and took off in his vehicle from the RIDE at a high rate of speed. As he was driving away he struck an officer's arm. The officer was not injured.

The driver returned a short time later and was arrested for dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, escape lawful custody, fail to stop when signalled or requested to and fail to surrender insurance card.

19-year-old Kyle McIntyre of Cambridge is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on June 5, 2018 to answer to the charges.
