Driving on sidewalk leads to impaired charge: Guelph Police

Police say the 29-year-old drove around a 'road closed' side in a construction zone

On Aug. 13, 2020, Guelph Police commenced an investigation when a driver was observed driving around a 'road closed' sign in a construction zone near Bagot Street in the City of Guelph. The operator of the motor vehicle went around the sign on the sidewalk.

The driver of the motor vehicle was spoken to and investigation revealed that the operator had alcohol in his system. The driver failed a roadside screening device and was placed under arrest for operation while impaired.

The 29-year-old Guelph resident was later released from custody with a court date of Oct. 20, 2020.
