Early morning stop leads to impaired charges

On Sept. 1, 2020, at approximately 3:50 a.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated the driver of a blue pick-up truck that was travelling westbound on Wellington Road 124 near Watson Road and was seen driving into the oncoming lane.

Police spoke with the driver and determined that their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and they were place under arrest. The driver was transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing.

Bryan Lawrie, 30 years old, of Guelph has been charged with impaired operation and impaired operation - 80 plus (mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code. A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph on Nov. 6, 2020.
