Erratic behaviour leads to several charges for Guelph woman

Police say they found a stolen credit card and a prohibited weapon on the person after being called by store staff

A Guelph woman faces several charges following her arrest on the weekend.

Approximately 7 a.m. Saturday, Guelph police were called to a business in the west end. Staff were concerned for a woman who was acting erratically and had been in a washroom for more than 40 minutes.

Officers attended and spoke to the woman, who identified herself with a fake name. Investigation revealed the woman had made several purchases with a stolen credit card, and had failed to pay for other items. She was arrested, and a search also revealed a flick knife hidden on her person.

A 30-year-old Guelph woman is charged with theft under $5,000, possessing stolen property, unauthorized use of a credit card, personation, possessing a prohibited weapon and two counts of breaching probation. She was held for a bail hearing and has been released to appear in a Guelph court July 22, 2022.
