A Guelph male accused of stealing nearly $7,000 worth of tools from a former employer during a break and enter on the weekend has been arrested.

Approximately 5:25 a.m. Sunday two males attended a business located near York Road and Stevenson Street South. One male kept watch while the other crawled under a gate to access the property. The male checked vehicles on the property before breaking a padlock to access a storage container.

Almost $7,000 worth of tools were stolen. The theft was captured on video and the business owner recognized the male as a former employee of the business. On Tuesday he was located downtown by officers with Project BEAT.

A 42-year-old Guelph male is charged with break and enter. He will appear in a Guelph court Aug. 10.

The investigation is ongoing to identify the second involved male. Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Const. Mark Medulun at 519-824-1212, ext. 7346, email him at [email protected], leave an anonymous message for Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or leave an anonymous tip online at www.csgw.tips.
