Early in the morning on June 27, 2019, police initiated a traffic stop with a motor vehicle on Wellington Street West just east of Edinburgh Road South after it was observed failing to signal before turning and weaving in and out of its lane.

Police detected an odour of the alcoholic beverage on the breath of the 23-year-old female driver, and observed her to have both glassy watery eyes and slow slurred speech. The driver subsequently failed a roadside breath test on an approved screening device and was arrested for drive with over 80mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood.

The accused will appear in court on July 12, 2019.
