Fatal crash just outside Guelph Sunday night

Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles at Wellington Road 32 and Fife Road.

On Sunday at approximately 6:30 p.m., the Wellington County OPP responded to a report of a serious motor vehicle collision. It was reported that a collision had occurred between a sedan and a pickup truck on Wellington Road 32 at Fife Road, west of Guelph. The Wellington County OPP, Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Services, Waterloo Regional Paramedic Services and local fire departments attended the scene.

One occupant of the sedan was pronounced deceased at the scene. The three other occupants of the sedan were transported to a trauma centre. The identity of the deceased person is being withheld at this time pending next of kin notifications.   

The Wellington County OPP is continuing to investigate with the assistance of the OPP West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team. Wellington Road 32 will be closed from Wellington Road 124 to Paisley Road, and Fife Road will be closed from Whitelaw Road to Township Road 1 for the next several hours. Please avoid the area and respect road closure signs.
