Vehicle impounded for excessive speed

On Thursday, Mar. 9, 2017, the Guelph Police Traffic Unit was monitoring traffic on Speedvale Ave East in the City of Guelph. At approximately 6:58 p.m., a 2017 silver Kia OLX was found to be travelling 116 km/h in a posted 60km/h zone. A 22-year-old female from Cambridge was charged with Speeding – 116km/h in a 60 km/h zone, racing a motor vehicle, and fail to surrender driver’s licence. The vehicle being driven was impounded for a period of seven days and the driver’s licence was seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

Downtown fight leads to arrest

At approximately 7:10 p.m. on Mar. 9 a fight broke out between two patrons at a Quebec Street establishment and when staff stepped into break up the fight, a knife was seen and police were called. Police arrived and found the two men had separated and neither one was injured. The two men not very cooperative with police and investigation led to one of the male being arrested.

A 33-year-old Guelph man is charged with assault with a weapon, weapons dangerous to the public peace and five counts of breach of probation. He was held in custody to appear in bail court later today.
