Guelph Police Service dealt with 285 calls for service

The following news releases were issued today by the Guelph Police Service:

Assault downtown - arrest
On May 30, 2019 at approximately 2:30 p.m., Guelph Police went to the area of Grant Street to investigate a reported assault. (It is alleged that) a female was inside a local restaurant when a male who was causing issues spat in her face. The male left the restaurant but was located a short distance away and arrested. A subsequent search discovered a stolen identity document and a small quantity of meth.

The 41-year-old Guelph man has been charged with assault, possess stolen property, unlawful possession of identity document, breach probation, breach recognizance and possess a controlled substance. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
 
Theft from cars
On May 30, 2019, the Guelph Police received five reports of theft from cars. The locations were Macdonell Street, Surrey Street, Dufferin Street, Burke Court and Tiffany Street.

This crime is easily avoidable. Please lock your cars and do not leave belongings visible. If you do become a victim of this crime you can report it through the Guelph Police online reporting portal.
