A Brampton male has been arrested in relation to a crash in Guelph earlier this week involving a stolen vehicle.

Just before 8 a.m. Monday, police were called to York Road and Wyndham Street South where a silver Volkswagen had mounted the curb causing significant front-end damage. A witness saw the driver removing the licence plates from the Volkswagen and leaving the scene in a black four-door sedan, later identified as a BMW.

Investigation revealed the Volkswagen had been stolen Sunday night from outside a Gordon Street restaurant.

Guelph police learned on Monday evening, the black BMW was involved in a pursuit that ended in a collision in another jurisdiction. At that time it had stolen licence plates attached.

A 25-year-old Brampton man was returned to Guelph and charged with two counts of dangerous driving, flight from police, possession of stolen property over $5,000 and possession of stolen property under $5,000.
