Guelph couple faces numerous drug charges

A Guelph couple faces drug and weapons charges following an investigation into trafficking.

Earlier this year, the Guelph police began an investigation into trafficking of fentanyl and crystal methamphetamine and identified two suspects. Tuesday evening they were arrested as they returned to their home.

During a search incident to arrest, police located quantities of suspected fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine and cocaine as well as a digital scale. Also located in their vehicle was a canister of OC spray, a spring-assisted knife, collapsible batons, brass knuckles and a stolen credit card.

A 40-year-old Guelph man and 25-year-old Guelph woman are each charged with three counts of possessing controlled substances for the purpose of trafficking, three counts of possessing a prohibited weapon and possessing stolen property. The male is also charged with driving while suspended.

They were both held for bail hearings Wednesday.
