Guelph Fire Department responds to apartment fire on Raymond Street

Aggressive firefighting attack contains fire to single unit

On June 19, 2018 at approximately 3:46 p.m. the Guelph Fire Department responded to a reported apartment fire at 125 Raymond St., Unit 216.

Arriving at the scene, firefighters found dark smoke coming from the balcony along with visible flame.

The fire was quickly brought under control and subsequently extinguished. Firefighters performed an aggressive attack which resulted in the fire being contained to the single apartment unit. Some light smoke damage was also present in the hallway of the second floor.

There were no injuries to firefighting personnel or tenants.

The cause of the fire, along with a damage estimate is under investigation by Guelph Fire Prevention Bureau Investigators.

Tenants were temporarily displaced while fire operations were undertaken but were later allowed back into the building.
