A Guelph male who was on bail facing more than two dozen criminal charges has been rearrested after he was caught Saturday breaching his conditions.

Just before 9 p.m. Saturday, members of the Guelph Police Service High Enforcement Action Team (HEAT) spotted the male in the area of Waterloo Avenue and Roland Street. Officers knew the male was bound by bail terms requiring him to remain in his residence 24 hours a day unless in the company of his surety.

The male was arrested for breaching his bail conditions. During a search incident to arrest police located a silver folding knife in his pocket. His bail terms also prohibit him from possessing weapons.

Officers also searched the male’s backpack, locating plastic baggies containing approximately $650 worth of suspected crystal methamphetamine and a small amount of suspected illicit cannabis, as well as cash and a cellphone.

A 24-year-old Guelph male is charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession for the purpose of trafficking, possessing illicit cannabis and two counts of failing to comply with a release order. He was held for a bail hearing Monday.
