Guelph man charged following bear spray attack

On Sept. 4, 2018, at approximately 6:20 a.m., Guelph Police responded to a disturbance at a business on Gordon Street. A male had been sprayed with bear spray by a second male who had fled the scene. The victim did not seek medical treatment. Police investigation led to the arrest of a male on Woolwich Street a short time later.

During their investigation, police located a number of pieces of identification and bank cards that did not belong to the male. It is alleged that the male was also responsible for the bear spray assault and robbery of a female that occurred on Sept. 3, 2018 on Wellington Street.

Erich Klug, a 22-year-old Guelph male will appear in court today on charges that include robbery, assault with a weapon, administer a noxious substance x2, carry concealed weapon, weapons dangerous, use stolen credit card x2, possession stolen property x2, and breach probation x5.
