A Guelph man and woman face drug and weapons charges after search warrants were executed at a Guelph residence on Wednesday.

Guelph Police say that earlier this month, they received information about people trafficking in controlled substances from a residence located near Paisley Road and Silvercreek Parkway North. On Wednesday search warrants were issued for the residence and a vehicle belonging to one of the suspects.

Members of the drug unit, intelligence unit, intelligence unit, tactics and rescue unit and high enforcement action team executed a total of three warrants.

At 8:18 p.m. Wednesday, a 43-year-old Guelph woman was located outside a business on Woodlawn Road West and arrested for possession for the purposes of trafficking. A search found quantities of crystal methamphetamine, cocaine and fentanyl in her coat. A further search of her property at the station revealed more controlled substances as well as a collapsible baton and cheques made out to another person which the female is alleged to have signed herself.

At 9:49 p.m. Wednesday, a 23-year-old male was located at the address listed on the search warrant and found to be in possession of cocaine and crystal methamphetamine.

In total police seized 64 grams of cocaine, nine grams of crystal methamphetamine, 0.67 grams of fentanyl and a small quantity of pills. The seized drugs have an estimated total value of $7,000.

The female is charged with five counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, carrying a concealed weapon and fraud under $5,000. She will appear in court April 14.

The male is charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking. He was held in custody for a bail hearing on Thursday.
