Guelph resident charged with impaired driving in French River

The driver was pulled over on Highway 69 Friday afternoon following a traffic complaint

A driver from Guelph has been charged with impaired driving on Highway 69.

On September 22, 2023, shortly after 3:30 p.m., members from the Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 69, French River.

The vehicle was located, and the driver was arrested for impaired driving, then transported to the West Nipissing OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation a 43-year-old from Guelph, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Resist peace officer
  • Uttering threats - cause death or bodily harm
  • Mischief under $5,000

The accused was release and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on October 18, 2023, in Sudbury.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
