A 33-year-old Guelph woman faces numerous charges after being arrested on Boxing Day.

Guelph Police say that on Oct. 14 a woman shoplifted $123.95 worth of merchandise from a store near the intersection of Harvard Road and Gordon Street. The items included pants, slipper socks, sweater, gift decoration tin, mug and gift bag.

Sometime between 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve and 7:54pm on Christmas Day a vehicle was taken from a residential parking lot located near the intersection of Edinburgh Road South and Stone Road West. The vehicle is valued at $4,000.

On Boxing Day at 5:48 a.m. the woman allegedly parked the stolen vehicle in the parking lot of a business located near the intersection of Eramosa Road and Stevenson Street North. She attempted to break into two mailboxes outside the business. The attempt was ultimately unsuccessful and she eventually tipped them over, causing some minor damage. She then began checking parked vehicles in the area for unlocked doors.

At 5:58 a.m. police located the woman walking nearby. When police activated their emergency lights, she ran away, entered the stolen vehicle and started driving away. Police attempted to initiate a traffic stop, however she continued driving away. The female soon mounted a curb and got the vehicle stuck in a snow bank a short distance away.

At 6:01 a.m police removed the female from the vehicle and she was subsequently arrested.

A search incident to arrest revealed a conducted energy weapon.

She has been charged with:

- Theft under $5,000
- Possession of stolen property under $5,000
- Mischief under $5,000
- Flight from police
- Possession of a prohibited weapon
- Fail to comply with undertaking

She was held in custody for a bail hearing later that day, where she was ultimately released with a court date of Jan. 22.
